plan for cs4 scripts

with After Effects CS4 now available, here’s my plan for CS4 updates to various scripts:

  • additional scripts on the Adobe Exchange (for the day job): now available… Additional Scripts for After Effects CS4. these are just small updates, with no new scripts at this time.
  • redefinery scripts (on this site): existing ones should work in CS4. however, i want to create CS4-specific versions that take advantage of the triple-quote support, remove the reliance on the graphics override for edittext and other controls, use new controls (as appropriate), and implement as many feature requests as possible. work is scheduled to start in november, with release in batches thereafter.
  • scripts available on mark’s & stu’s book dvds: the existing ones should work in CS4. as for other stuff, i’ll cover that in a future post. :-)

rd: Split Render updated to v2.2

still alive here…just been swamped with a few projects.

i just posted a bug fix for rd: Split Render to address an issue with split values not being integer values…thought i knew my math. :-/ i also made the slider update the split value while dragging. [hat tip: phil spitler, for the bug report]

labwork… rd: Notation

a request from the AE list for a multi-line text box for jotting notes, rd: Notation is now available in the lab. max chars is 1999 it seems, and you can enter newlines only on Windows (by pressing Ctrl + Enter); sorry Mac folks, it’s a limitation of the multiline edittext control. as usual, feel free to leave your feedback (input, requests, bug reports, etc.) in the comments.

kinda updated

rd: Kinda Sorta has been updated with a Z Position option. nothing fancy here (i.e., it doesn’t take into account Z Anchor Point at this time).

rd: Render Layers — Queue Only mode

i added a Queue Only button to rd: Render Layers that simply populates the Render Queue with items for the selected layers. i hope you find it more compatible when used in a render farm and with lloyd’s BG Renderer script. it’s enabled only in Work Area mode. [hat tip: james tobias, for the feature request]
