Mark Christiansen’s Adobe After Effects CS4 Visual Effects and Compositing Studio Techniques book, to which i contributed a Scripting appendix (on the DVD), is now available. the appendix contains an overview of After Effects scripting, breakdowns of three scripts (trim layers to zero opacity, render slates from tab-delimited text, apply light wrap using the recipe from mark’s book), a script to set up the camera projection technique covered in the book, and small updates to the existing Duplink and Merge Projects scripts. be sure to check out contributions from dan ebberts, the man when it comes to expressions, and lloyd alvarez, who continues to crank out awesome scripts, on the DVD.

along the same lines as my last post, the DV Rebel Tools script implemented for Stu’s The DV Rebel’s Guide: An All-Digital Approach to Making Killer Action Movies on the Cheap has been updated to work as a dockable panel in AE CS3, among other enhancements. check out this thread on the Rebel Café Forum for the deets. enjoy, rebels!

Mark Christiansen’s Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional Studio Techniques book is coming, and includes updates to the rd: Duplink and rd: Merge Projects scripts that allow them to work as dockable panels in AE CS3. with CS3’s support for expressions on path properties like Mask Path, Duplink can now create multiple mask instances. seeing several masks update in unison is just so cool.
